Get to know them here . Joe Tutor is the RWC Facebook representative. Add Joe as a friend and chat with a tutor from anywhere -- the library, your laptop, your home computer. Joe's got your back. Tutors are not allowed to simply take your paper from you, make edits, and give it back. Instead, they will work with you to identify and discuss errors, teaching you conventions and principles of correct writing. You will learn strategies for proofreading, and how to find and correct the errors in your paper.
It is best for you to come to your tutoring appointment with a printed copy of your paper. You should also have specific questions or concerns about your paper that you feel should be addressed. No. However, in order to guarantee that you will be able to see a tutor, it is best to make an appointment. Sometimes the Center is very busy so it does not hurt to make your appointment a day or two in advance. You may schedule two appointments per week, but these appointments cannot be scheduled on the same day. However, you are welcome to walk in and work with a tutor at any time as long as someone is free. This is called a “walk-in tutorial” and is not considered one of the two scheduled appointments. If there are no tutors available, you can ask to be placed on the "Waitlist" and a tutor will see you as soon as one becomes available. If you have a walk-in tutorial, you may not have another until at least one hour after your tutorial is over. If you are more than 5 minutes late, your appointment will be given to any student who may be waiting. At busy times, there is often a waitlist so it is important that you are on time. As a courtesy, if you know you cannot keep an appointment or you will be delayed, please call (808) 293-3629 and let the receptionist know. Tutorial sessions range from 15-30 minutes.
Yes. Students are asked to fill out a tutorial slip with their name, date, and class. These slips are sent to the respective instructors and professors. These slips are also used for statistical purposes. A student desiring privacy can request that an instructor not be told of a tutorial or the specific content of a tutorial.
